Bees in the Chimney

Our builder is soon due to start on the major construction work in the loft and so we had to do something about the bees that have taken residence in one of the chimney stacks. There are plenty of beekeepers looking for bee swarms to collect but none of them wanted to touch ours as they are four stories up in the air on the corner of the roof so not exactly east to get to! After visiting the local mairie we contacted a local pest control to come and eradicate them. Half an hour after we called him the bees decided the chimney was too small for all of them and they swarmed over the house to another chimney on the other side! Great so now we have twice the problem. here is a picture from my phone of the swarm- Several thousand bees which makes a hell of a noise: Uploaded from the Photobucket Android App He climbed out of the chimney inspection hatch (luckily the chap was tiny)and put down some powder in the chimney then glued a tile over the chimney pot to stop them getting back in. Photobucket Apparently the bees must have been in the chimney for years and he stated there are at least ten thousand in the chimney breast!
